excited I was at the smog cutter tonight, and they asked me to sing the first song of the night, and I chose "Killing me Softly" by the Fugees. And as I was singing the first verse, the bartender hailed me and told me "[someone] bought you a drink." And I was all, "awesome," because that hadn't happened before and so I was genuinely pleased. And then I went to get the drink. And the bartender repeated, "Kiefer bought you a drink." And I looked into the face of the guy I was reaching over.
And it was Kiefer Sutherland.
Kiefer Sutherland bought me a drink.
And then, he left the bar. But on the way out, he shook my hand and bowed at me.

He was a lot littler than I thought he would be.
UPDATE: Here is a follow up entry, in which our hero becomes the object of discussion on the 24 forums, is re-christened "Sex Patriot: Opportunistic Hussy," and ascends to the Z-list. Enjoy.

It actually makes me happy to know that someone outside of your friends has validated your absolutely amazing talents. Because sometimes I worry that you think I'm just paying you lip service when I tell you that you need to be on American Idol or on the radio. But now you know that when you play me a song and it's so good I actually have to stand up to enjoy it... that the emotion you provoke is real and beautiful.I feel strangely validated through your experience with Kiefer Sutherland. Like, yeah, I'm not crazy: Charlie's voice is freakin' awesome. And I'm not the only one who thinks so.
